1. Do I need to pay the daily fee if I don’t swim?

Yes, all patrons entering the aquatics facility must pay to enter.

2. What is the temperature of the Spa? Lap Lanes? Activity Areas?

The Temperature of the Spa is 101 degrees. Lap Lanes is 83 degrees. Activity Areas is 86 degrees.

3. How old do I have to be to use the Spa?

Guests 5 years of age and under are prohibited in spa water. Guests 6-13 years of age must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. 

4. How old do I have to be to use the pool?

Guest 5 years of age and under must be within the arm’s reach of a paid parent/guardian at a maximum ratio of 1:5 (adult: children). Guests, 6-10 years of age must have a parent/guardian 16 years of age and older present in the pool area.

5. How long are the lap lanes & how many laps is a mile?

All three lap lanes are 25 yards in length. 36 laps are needed to swim one mile. 

6. Is this a chlorine pool

Yes, chlorine is the disinfectant used supported by ultraviolet light and the state-of-the-art diatomaceous earth filters

7. How tall must you be to use the slide and rock wall?

To use the slide, riders must be 48"
To use the slide, riders must be 42"

8. Can I take a inflatable in the pool?

No, Inflatables are not allowed however, any US Coast Guard approved “floaty” are allowed such as lifejackets and puddle jumpers. The Coast Guard stamp can be found on the inside of the PFD (personal floatation device.) Inflatable balls are not allowed as they will ultimately be used to float on and they block the lifeguard’s vision.

9. Can we bring our own food to the pool deck?

 Food and drinks can only be consumed outside on the patio. Guests may bring in outside food into the facility, however, there is no glass or alcohol allowed. 

10. Do we offer Private Swimming Lessons?

1. What is BATS

BATS is the Berthoud Area Transportation System.  It is operated by the Town of Berthoud to provide safe, courteous, and reliable service to our riders to help maintain their independence. BATS provides door-to-door service rides within Berthoud, Loveland, and Longmont.

2. How much does it cost to ride BATS

60 years or older: BATS is free, although they do accept donations.
59 years or younger:  each one-way trip costs $1.00.  Out-of-town trips to Loveland or Longmont cost $4.00 each way.

1. What is the application process?

As applications are received, they will be recorded in order of date/time received.

Please note, applications are not reviewed or approved on a first come first served basis. Instead, applications will be evaluated based on completion of application, priority analysis, review of financial position, and the ability for a business to leverage these funds most effectively through the recovery effort to achieve long term success. Applications will be collected through November 20 with anticipated disbursement of funds by December 15, 2020. Assistance will depend upon the number of applicants, availability of funds, and demonstrated need.

Applications are currently open. Please use the Berthoud Recovery Fund Application to submit your application.

4. Who can apply and what are the criteria?

• Berthoud businesses and/or locally owned franchises in Colorado.
• Business in operation for a minimum of 6 months as of the date of application. Must be able to demonstrate solvency (defined as positive equity and net income) prior to February 29, 2020
• Provide receipt of application for at least one of the available Government Relief Program (EX: SBA Disaster Loan, PPP Loan, EIDL Loan, Town of Berthoud Sales Tax Rebate, etc.)
• Berthoud based nonprofit organizations in operation for a minimum of 6 months as the date of application offering direct assistance to Berthoud residents with COVID-19 related support.

5. How long will it take to review my application?

It may take up to 30 days to review your application and provide confirmation if you are a recipient. Our review committee will meet regularly to review applications and once approved, will distribute funds.

7. What happens if I don’t have all the required documentation on the application?

1. How many times around the track makes a mile?

 14 times around the track makes one mile.

2. Do the Fitness classes cost extra?

All Fitness classes listed on the fitness schedule are included with your daily admission or membership. Classes that require an extra cost will be noted.

Yes, if there is room in a paid class, customers can pay the drop-in fee and attend any paid fitness class. 

4. How old do you have to be to use the weight room?

10 years of age and under are not allowed in the fitness areas; 

11-13 years of age must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at least 16 and have completed an equipment orientation class. 

14-15 must pass an equipment orientation, but adult supervision is not required. 

5. Do you offer a general weight room orientation?

1. Who is responsible for the trees located in the right of way strip in front of my house?

Per Municipal Code Section 30-2-112(B)(5) it is the responsibility of the adjacent property owner for the maintenance of trees within the public rights-of-way (“tree lawns”), and the Town has the authority to conduct code enforcement for hazardous trees.  

2. Since the right of way trees in front of the house are my responsibility, can I perform maintenance on them?

Yes, you can preform the work to your adjacent right of way trees by yourself, but make sure it is work you can handle by yourself, such as light trimming. Larger prunings or removals we recommend checking for a Licensed Arborist Service in Berthoud that can assist you with the work. 

Before conducting any work on trees in the right of way strip, we ask that you submit a Street Tree Work Permit to the Forestry Department. This is a short two page document just outlining the work you plan to have done on your street tree. The application is free, and is quickly approved. The information is just for the Forestry Department to review to make sure the town street trees are receiving appropriate care. 

3. Who can I call to get work done on my trees in Berthoud?

We reccomend checking the Licensed Arborist Services page to check for licensed and insured arborists in Berthoud. 

4. I had the street tree removed in front of my house, do I need to remove the stump too?

Yes, all stumps on public right-of-way (by ordinance) must be removed to at least 6" below grade.

5. What are the clearance requirements for branches hanging over the sidewalk or road.

Tree limbs should hang no lower than 14 feet over streets and 8 feet over sidewalks.

The Town of Berthoud does not pick up tree limbs from private property.

7. Is Emerald Ash Borer in Berthoud?

As of 2022 Emerald Ash Borer has not been officialy spotted in Berthoud city limits. Colorado State Forest Service has confirmed the presence of Emerald Ash Borer in neighborhoods west of Berthoud in 2019.

8. What can I do to protect my Ash tree against Emerald Ash Borer?

The town has measured and recorded all Ash trees located within right of way strips in town. Most trees that meet the treatment criteria will recieve treatments contracted out by the town. Ash trees will recieve treatment on two year cycles, per the treatment requirements. 

For privately owned Ash trees, if you want to protect them from the Emerald Ash Borer beetle, we reccomend reaching out to licensed arborist services in Berthoud and inquire about EAB treatments.

1. May we plant flowers?

Flowers may be planted in the south portion of the cemetery. Due to maintenance operations, plantings are not permitted within the north portion of the cemetery. 

2. Is a burial vault required?

Yes, vaults are required for any in-ground burials.

3. How many cremains may be placed in one plot?

Up to two cremains vaults may be interred in a plot with an existing full body burial. 

Up to three cremains vaults can be interred in a plot without a full body burial.

One cremains vault may be interred in a half plot. 

4. Do you offer a payment plan?

No, we do not offer a payment plan. Plots must be paid in full at time of purchase.

5. Are there interment fees for burials?

Yes, there are interment fees for all burials.  Please see the plot and niche information on the Greenlawn Cemetery Page. 

6. Can I sell plots that I own?

Private sales of plots are permitted. Proof of ownership and a Cemetery Deed Transfer Form between the seller and the buyer must be provided at the time of transfer.  A new deed must be issued in the buyers name to complete the sale and transfer of ownership.  Please contact us to complete the transfer.  

7. Does the cemetery provide funeral service accommodations?

Greenlawn Cemetery does not provide funeral service accommodations. Please contact your funeral home for guidance and cost of service.

1. Am I required to attend court?

No. You are not required to attend court unless the word "summons" is specified on your citation in the "Fine" column adjacent to the cited violation. "Summons" indicates you have a mandatory court appearance set on the assigned arraignment date as noted in the lower left hand corner of the citation.

If you do not have a specified Summons and instead have a dollar amount specified in the "Fine" column adjacent to the cited violation, you are required to pay your citation prior to your court date or you must attend court on your assigned arraignment date in order to avoid Failure to Appear fines and a possible issuance of a Bench Warrant for your arrest.

2. Does Berthoud offer Traffic School or Useful Public Service In Lieu of points assessed to my license?

Berthoud Municipal Court offers the original plea deal as stated on the front of your citation of paying the citation in full prior to the arraignment date and receiving an reduction from the originally cited violation. The citation will state what the reduction is if paid prior to court.

If you are wanting to make a plea for a further reduction of points through Traffic School or Useful Public Service, you will have to appear in court on your arraignment date to petition your plea with the Town Prosecutor and Judge. Each case is judged on a case by case basis and there is no guarantee your request or plea will be accepted.

3. What if I can not make my court date?

Berthoud Municipal Court will grant you a one-time courtesy continuance to our next month's court date.

Please send your request for continuance by email to the Court.

In your request please include your full name, citation number and that you are requesting a continuance and that you understand that you are waiving your right to a speedy trial.

4. What if I can not pay my fine?

If you are looking for a payment plan, the Judge is the only one who can authorize a payment plan. If you are seeking a payment plan you will have to appear in court on your arraignment date to enter the request for a plan with the Judge. He has the authority to accept as well as deny any request for a payment plan.

5. What is a Default Judgment?

The Court may set aside a judgment entered showing good cause exists. 

The Defendant is given a court date on the citation.  If the Defendant does not appear, a failure to appear is issued to the Defendant for the next court date.

If the Defendant does not appear, then a  Notice of Default Judgment is sent for the next court date.  Failure to appear a default judgment goes into full force and effect and is subject to collection proceedings.

All notices are sent to the address on the citation the Defendant was issued.

75% refund if canceled 2 weeks prior to the event, 50% refund if canceled during the 1st week of the event, No refund if canceled after the first week of the event.

2. Do you have a spectator fee?

No, anyone visiting our facility must pay a drop-in fee based on their age. The reason we require this is that anyone passing the front desk is viewed as using the facility in some capacity.

3. What are your age restrictions for the facility?

Customers 10 and older can use the gym and aquatics area without adult supervision. 

Customers 9 and younger must be accompanied by someone 16 or older.

Customers 11-13 must complete fitness equipment orientation and be accompanied by someone 16 or older to enter the fitness equipment area.

Customers 14-15 must complete fitness equipment orientation or be accompanied by someone 16 or older. If the orientation class has been completed, no supervision is necessary.

4. Do I need to have a membership to use the child watch area?

No, non-members can pay $3.50. Children checking in with someone that holds a adult and family membership is free of charge. 

5. Do I have to have a membership to use the facility?

No, we offer daily drop-in rates and an option to purchase a 20-visit punch pass.

6. When is your open gym so that I can play drop-in sports in the gym?

7. What is your cancellation policy for memberships?

The monthly membership rate will be debited from your account on the 15th of each month. This auto-renew payment will continue until the account holder has given the berthoud recreation staff a 30-day notice. Upon the 30-day notice, a cancellation fee must be paid to finalize the cancellation.

8. Do Berthoud residents get a discount on their membership cost?

The fee structure was set up and driven by a market analysis for this area which the Berthoud Recreation Center took in account when building the current structure. Operations, maintenance, and building construction will be paid from the 2018 1% sales tax revenue fund from the Town. Buying goods and services in the Town of Berthoud will pay a portion of the expenses along with memberships revenue to use the facility.
